Red means Dirty, Blue means Clean
When you go to the dentist, you want to be certain you are in a clean environment and that nobody is taking risks with your health. Dr. Tucker takes extensive precautions to protect her patients -- starting with a state-of-the-art sterilization system that segregates clean and dirty equipment using color coded lights. Foot operated kick-plates and infrared motion sensors operate faucets, open compartments, manage waste and initiate cleaning processes to reduce the chances for cross-contamination by hands. Dirty equipment is safely contained until it can be cleaned and sterile instruments are safely stored until ready for use. The source of water for our dental units is distilled bottled water, which removes any chance of contamination from regular tap water like that used in most dental offices. At the chairside, too, you will also notice that faucets and sinks are operated with footplates, cabinets are opened with a push from a knee and disposable suction cups eliminate the need for an unhygienic cuspidor.
